English Curriculum

P.1-P.3:

To arouse pupils’ interest in learning English and develop their life-long learning skills at an early stage, we adopt a combination of phonics and story-based curriculum for our P.1-3 students. We have tailor-made a set of school-based modules for P.1-2. Through extensive stories, songs and e-learning materials, students are able to learn reading, writing, grammar and usage in a fun and creative way. Together with the stories and activities in the booklets, we use the phonics-based reading and writing program Read Write Inc. (RWI) as a core component of our P.1-3 curriculum so as to equip students with the necessary decoding skills they need to begin learning English on their own.

P.4-P.6:

To further increase students’ ability to master English, we adopt Drama in Education modules for the upper grades. Students need to use the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills that they have learnt to express themselves fully and properly and use the language in a holistic and natural way. P.6 students need to play a role in the drama show on their P.6 graduation ceremony so as to demonstrate their learning outcome to their loved ones. Alongside traditional stage performance, students also explore the art of puppetry to develop their storytelling, creativity, and manual coordination. We take part in the Hong Kong Drama Festival and Puppetry Festival every year and have received many awards.

Native English Teacher (NET) Programme:

Our EDB-qualified NET co-teaches with local English teachers in all classes. Almost half of the P.1-2 English lessons are co-taught with the NET and over 30% for each grade from P.3-6. Students are confident speaking and using English in our English-rich environment from their early years.
